We dined, on more than one occasion, at a wonderful restaurant across from the National Museum in one of Bogota's beautiful brick buildings. Adorning a pleasant view of Monserrate, La Moderna is perfect for lunch, dinner, or simply to enjoy a few authentic salsa tunes. The cuisine included some typical Colombian favorites, nicely paired with the Chef's fabulous creations. The service is exceptional and the staff treats you like a guest in their home. I highly recommend La Moderna for any occasion; lunch with a friend, drinks and appetizers after work, or for a fun filled night of dancing to great music. La Moderna is open late Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

They have an ambient like a Paris cafe, and they fusion food (cuban food on a pizza)is a new innovation. Is the 1st cuban pizzeria in Bogota.If you are interested, the address is Calle 26A No. 3A-06 (you recognize the pizzeria because they have a flag up in the enter door and a lot of plants in the outside) and the telephone is: 283-55-15. The NY Times obviated many restaurants in the Macarena Neighborhood. Like Zaza, La Jugueteria, Balthazar, El Patio, Cuba Pizza & Crepes, Agave Azul and many others that are in this neighborgood and are really good places to eat. .- SEABASS DIAZ6.July 25th, 200910:02 am.I just wanted to clarify that Luna restaurant is located in "La Zona T" rather that in "la 75". In the second floor there is El Libertador, Bogota's best bar. Expensive, though. Also try Donostia, market cuisine, next door. Outstanding..- Rick10.April 25th, 200910:11 am.By chance we ended up at Luna in the 75th area. Luna is a large classic Italian restaurant with a huge menu, housemade pastas, woodfired pizzas and breads, veal, beef, fish. They asked if we had a reservation which we did not, one of the waiters grabbed us and said he would take care of us. Within twenty minutes the whole place was packed and people waiting at the door. He brought us fresh flat bread from their wood fired oven and fresh mozzarella balls in delicious olive oil to start. Then we had some of the best carpaccio we have ever had layered around a salad Mirabella of fresh local greens. Everything was freshly made in their open kitchen. Great service, great entrees, and solid wine list. Nice surprise.
Casa Vieja, Cucina y Cava, and Abastos all worth visiting as well. Hotel de la Opera was perfect in the old city. Andres Carne de Res for its meat and unique theatrical party. La Porta Falsa for the flavor of local pastries, cookies, cakes and desserts.
And if you are a fast food buff, try a local chain called El Corral,(and its "Corralisima" hamburger) they are all over the city. This hamburger will erase any appreciation you have (if you still have any) for McDonald´s and its look alikes..- local epicureous13.January 23rd, 20095:09 pm.In Bogota, for me, there are four fantastic restaurants; two traditional and two modern. Each kitchen presents the Colombian food in its own style.

For traditional local food there are two widely known eateries with more than one hundred years each.
At the historical city centre, by the cathedral, La Puerta Falsa for traditional "Tamales" with local candies an cookies, Pera cheese, Almojábana and Aguapanela (a typical Colombian infusion of solidified caramel of sugar cane known as "panela" and a lemmon twist). If you are in the financial district try Las Margaritas, in the Chapinero neighborhood, for the best Empanadas and Ajiaco, another Colombian staple.

If you are looking for avant garde colombian cuisine, one block from the National Museum is Leo Cocina y Cava. Was awarded something by Condé Nast Traveller Magazine (and let me tell you, weathever it was is well deserved). The other one is Abasto, up north, in Usaquen neighborhood. Both restaurants offer fusion dishes from all over Colombia and other parts of the world, prepared with exotic fruits, fishes, meats and vegetables.
And as a thing absolutely important, do not forget to try the desserts, in all four places.
.- Giovanna14.January 23rd, 20093:41 pm.For a very tasty and well priced food, try Abasto, a little restaurant in Usaquen.
The decoration is inspired by the old candy and grocery stores present in every village or farmers market everywhere in Colombia, with a modern lounge-like twist.

The food is delicious, and unexpected, starting with the bread.
The menu offers world known dishes prepared in novel ways mixed with traditional colombian staples and ingredients.
You can have a complete dinner only ordering different entrees (personally I´ve tried several times grilled baby Calamari on Ratatuille, the marinated greek olives, the mexican ceviche and "empanadas")-
For dessert I strongly recomend the "Almojábana" cake... or the Santander´s dark chocolate pie with almonds.

As a dutch expat working between Peru, Colombia and Venezuela, this is one of the best places I´ve enjoyed. The wine cellar is well selected for the menu. Also offer a good selection of beer from a local microbrewery and the place has different types of tables...with a chimney; in a balcony, outdoors; with sofas, or if you go with a big party or in a special ocassion, the chef´s table, inside de candy store. Aditionally if you want some of the ingredients, wine or fruits used by the chef you can buy them as well, in a mini delikatessen inside. .- Frederick Le Goff15.November 2nd, 20087:58 pm.I travel regularly to Colombia for work and Bogota has some of the best restaurants I have frequented in this big old world. Don't miss Nazca (excellent Peruvian with some Colombian twists) and Leo Cocina y Cava..- Kurt16.June 19th, 20088:06 pm.if you are loaded go to Restaurante Club Colombia, its just awesome. if you want something cheaper try Crepes and Waffles (HAVE TO EAT THEIR ICE CREAM) or Sopas de la Abuela y postres de mamá. Palos de Moguer in Zona T is a good place for lunch, it's a brewery with decent ales. I'm from California and was seriously missing Mexican food, so on the last night we went to Museo del Tequila,in northern Bogota, which claims to have 1585 bottles of tequila on the walls. It was packed and you definitely need a reservation there.- angeladeda21.March 25th, 20085:50 pm.I swear, your best bet is to eat in as many different typical places as possible. Look for signs out front that say almuerzo, then go inside and ask for almuerzo. You gotta try mondongo, ajiaco, arepas de carne y huevo, pizza (can be quite good at some of the hundreds of pizza joints in Candelaria). Explore! I have also eaten in the fancy resturants but they never REALLY wow me..- Nick22.March 25th, 20085:46 pm.Andres Carne de Res has fantastic, unique ambience and excellent steaks and traditional Colombian food (not to mention and incredible party scene.) There are 3 superb Peruvians restaurants (in order of my preference): Astrid & Gaston, Nazca and Rafael. Criterion is a 5 star hitter in the Zona Rosa. And you can't go wrong with Balzac (in the Zona T) or Brasserie (Calle 85 w/ Cra. 13) both of which are French Bistro. The best takeout sandwiches in the city is Clown's Deli..- Anonymous23.March 24th, 20082:17 pm.Go to Chia, a town 40 minutes outside Bogota. The restaurant is called Andres Carne de Res.
