Coments of Bogota Restaurants

1.August 18th, 20092:55 pm.LA ESQUINA IN THE ZONA T IN BOGOTA.... THE BEST LIL SEAFOOD RESTURANT IN BOGOTA... I LOVED IT.......- LA ESQUINA2.July 30th, 20091:19 am.We are grateful sincerely for the visit of Robert Raid and of Scott Dalton to our restaurant CUBA PIZZA & CRAPES here into La Macarena (Bogota, Colombia), and to give us the opportunity to be known to many persons. Thank you very much New York Times for thinking about La Macarena , a place charming and full of culinary possibilities for the good palates. We wait for your visit in the Calle 26A No. 3A-26 Tels.: 3521835 - 2835515 .- MARGARITA BAKKER3.July 29th, 200912:01 pm.My husband and I just returned from a month long visit to Colombia. We dined, on more than one occasion, at a wonderful restaurant across from the National Museum in one of Bogota's beautiful brick buildings. Adorning a pleasant view of Monserrate, La Moderna is perfect for lunch, dinner, or simply to enjoy a few authentic salsa tunes. The cuisine included some typical Colombian favorites, nicely paired with the Chef's fabulous creations. The service is exceptional and the staff treats you like a guest in their home. I highly recommend La Moderna for any occasion; lunch with a friend, drinks and appetizers after work, or for a fun filled night of dancing to great music. La Moderna is open late Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

They have an ambient like a Paris cafe, and they fusion food (cuban food on a pizza)is a new innovation. Is the 1st cuban pizzeria in Bogota. If you are interested, the address is Calle 26A No. 3A-06 (you recognize the pizzeria because they have a flag up in the enter door and a lot of plants in the outside) and the telephone is: 283-55-15. HAVE A NICE DAY.- JMJChill5.July 26th, 200912:54 pm.I think that the article "Bogota meets the world" was really mediocre and the picture too. The NY Times obviated many restaurants in the Macarena Neighborhood. Like Zaza, La Jugueteria, Balthazar, El Patio, Cuba Pizza & Crepes, Agave Azul and many others that are in this neighborgood and are really good places to eat. .- SEABASS DIAZ6.July 25th, 200910:02 am.I just wanted to clarify that Luna restaurant is located in "La Zona T" rather that in "la 75". Is one of my favorites places to have a real good and affordable pasta!!!.- Pablocasu7.July 19th, 200911:39 am.Hello, well in bogota the best placa to have a good lunch or dinner in the international down town is restaurant ZAZA is great place.. the best wine and the attention is amazing... this is the adress cr4a#26-55 tel 5668240 nad they speak english and henrew.. so its easy to orden and talk to the owners as for Felipe he is so great and nice person..- felocon8.May 19th, 200910:28 am.the best in town: Leo Cocina y Cava, one street south... and Donostia, one street north from the National Museum, at the "Centro Internacional" financial district. .- Anonymous9.April 25th, 200912:31 pm.Tabula, close to the National Museum is a must for incredible food. In the second floor there is El Libertador, Bogota's best bar. Expensive, though. Also try Donostia, market cuisine, next door. Outstanding..- Rick10.April 25th, 200910:11 am.By chance we ended up at Luna in the 75th area. Luna is a large classic Italian restaurant with a huge menu, housemade pastas, woodfired pizzas and breads, veal, beef, fish. They asked if we had a reservation which we did not, one of the waiters grabbed us and said he would take care of us. Within twenty minutes the whole place was packed and people waiting at the door. He brought us fresh flat bread from their wood fired oven and fresh mozzarella balls in delicious olive oil to start. Then we had some of the best carpaccio we have ever had layered around a salad Mirabella of fresh local greens. Everything was freshly made in their open kitchen. Great service, great entrees, and solid wine list. Nice surprise.
Casa Vieja, Cucina y Cava, and Abastos all worth visiting as well. Hotel de la Opera was perfect in the old city. Don't miss the Botero museum..- Peter Kircher11.January 29th, 20093:51 pm.Go to "Miryam Cahmi" or "Rausch Patissier" for the best desserts and cakes in town. (both follow kosher standars).

And "Xoco", a dreamlike chocolate store...This three won`t let you down. .- bergkamp12.January 23rd, 20095:42 pm.Criterion for its haute french cuisine, wich is perfect. Andres Carne de Res for its meat and unique theatrical party. La Porta Falsa for the flavor of local pastries, cookies, cakes and desserts.
And if you are a fast food buff, try a local chain called El Corral,(and its "Corralisima" hamburger) they are all over the city. This hamburger will erase any appreciation you have (if you still have any) for McDonald´s and its look alikes..- local epicureous13.January 23rd, 20095:09 pm.In Bogota, for me, there are four fantastic restaurants; two traditional and two modern. Each kitchen presents the Colombian food in its own style.

For traditional local food there are two widely known eateries with more than one hundred years each.
At the historical city centre, by the cathedral, La Puerta Falsa for traditional "Tamales" with local candies an cookies, Pera cheese, Almojábana and Aguapanela (a typical Colombian infusion of solidified caramel of sugar cane known as "panela" and a lemmon twist). If you are in the financial district try Las Margaritas, in the Chapinero neighborhood, for the best Empanadas and Ajiaco, another Colombian staple.

If you are looking for avant garde colombian cuisine, one block from the National Museum is Leo Cocina y Cava. Was awarded something by Condé Nast Traveller Magazine (and let me tell you, weathever it was is well deserved). The other one is Abasto, up north, in Usaquen neighborhood. Both restaurants offer fusion dishes from all over Colombia and other parts of the world, prepared with exotic fruits, fishes, meats and vegetables.
And as a thing absolutely important, do not forget to try the desserts, in all four places.
.- Giovanna14.January 23rd, 20093:41 pm.For a very tasty and well priced food, try Abasto, a little restaurant in Usaquen.
The decoration is inspired by the old candy and grocery stores present in every village or farmers market everywhere in Colombia, with a modern lounge-like twist.

The food is delicious, and unexpected, starting with the bread.
The menu offers world known dishes prepared in novel ways mixed with traditional colombian staples and ingredients.
You can have a complete dinner only ordering different entrees (personally I´ve tried several times grilled baby Calamari on Ratatuille, the marinated greek olives, the mexican ceviche and "empanadas")-
For dessert I strongly recomend the "Almojábana" cake... or the Santander´s dark chocolate pie with almonds.

As a dutch expat working between Peru, Colombia and Venezuela, this is one of the best places I´ve enjoyed. The wine cellar is well selected for the menu. Also offer a good selection of beer from a local microbrewery and the place has different types of tables...with a chimney; in a balcony, outdoors; with sofas, or if you go with a big party or in a special ocassion, the chef´s table, inside de candy store. Aditionally if you want some of the ingredients, wine or fruits used by the chef you can buy them as well, in a mini delikatessen inside. .- Frederick Le Goff15.November 2nd, 20087:58 pm.I travel regularly to Colombia for work and Bogota has some of the best restaurants I have frequented in this big old world. Don't miss Nazca (excellent Peruvian with some Colombian twists) and Leo Cocina y Cava..- Kurt16.June 19th, 20088:06 pm.if you are loaded go to Restaurante Club Colombia, its just awesome. if you want something cheaper try Crepes and Waffles (HAVE TO EAT THEIR ICE CREAM) or Sopas de la Abuela y postres de mamá. If you want to taste what colombians eat on a daily base, just follow secretaries or got o crowded places, they could look ugly, but if they are crowded it means its good and cheap....- Anonymous17.April 30th, 20089:33 pm.In Bogota you can find all kind of great restaurants, lately my favourite is a Peruvian restaurant called Rafael around la Zona G; if you want to try some typical Colombian food from the northern coast of the country you can go to Narcobollo on cll 116 below cra. 15.- Carlos 18.April 3rd, 20086:33 pm.The very best restaurant is El olivar, next to hotel la Opera, great international food. Excellent wine, Very tasty food. .- Christine19.March 26th, 20089:22 pm.La Tienda de Cafe. In the La Zona Rosa, great steak, dark and cosy..- Simon Stewart20.March 26th, 20087:10 pm.Andersons in La Candelaria, within walking distance from the Hotel La Opera, tiny little bistro, cozy, great food and wines by the glass.
Palos de Moguer in Zona T is a good place for lunch, it's a brewery with decent ales. I'm from California and was seriously missing Mexican food, so on the last night we went to Museo del Tequila,in northern Bogota, which claims to have 1585 bottles of tequila on the walls. It was packed and you definitely need a reservation there.- angeladeda21.March 25th, 20085:50 pm.I swear, your best bet is to eat in as many different typical places as possible. Look for signs out front that say almuerzo, then go inside and ask for almuerzo. You gotta try mondongo, ajiaco, arepas de carne y huevo, pizza (can be quite good at some of the hundreds of pizza joints in Candelaria). Explore! I have also eaten in the fancy resturants but they never REALLY wow me..- Nick22.March 25th, 20085:46 pm.Andres Carne de Res has fantastic, unique ambience and excellent steaks and traditional Colombian food (not to mention and incredible party scene.) There are 3 superb Peruvians restaurants (in order of my preference): Astrid & Gaston, Nazca and Rafael. Criterion is a 5 star hitter in the Zona Rosa. And you can't go wrong with Balzac (in the Zona T) or Brasserie (Calle 85 w/ Cra. 13) both of which are French Bistro. The best takeout sandwiches in the city is Clown's Deli..- Anonymous23.March 24th, 20082:17 pm.Go to Chia, a town 40 minutes outside Bogota. The restaurant is called Andres Carne de Res. Have great beef, great service, wonderfull music and dance until dawn!.- Anonymous
